Course Description:

This course is designed to get our youth invovled in sports and want to have a life long committment to physical activity. We want them to explore and enjoy the physical activities that we have planned. We want them to be able to endure all the activities we place on our schedule. We want them coming out of this class understanding how to play or perform these sports correctly, as well as, love the sport itself.


Course Philosophy:

We want to teach the students the importance of being active in physically through out their lifetime.  As a physical education teacher I want to push these students to be their best in every sports, have a good attitude, and want to participate in the activities we provide.  The more we work on these three issues the better off the class will be and the students will be able to enjoy themselves.

Semester Outline:

Volleyball:
Week 1-3 Learn rules, regulations, how to play, and positions.
Week 4 Divide Students and begin a tournament.

Badminton:
Week 5-8 Learn rules, regulations, how to play, and positions.
Week 9 Divide Students and begin a tournament.

Step Aerobics:
Week 10 Learn step of step aerobics.
Week 11 Place students in groups and have them make up there own routines.
Week 12 Students will teach peers their routines they put together.

Track & Field:
Week 13 Learn history, events, skills and techniques of track and field.
Week 14 Practice events that the students have chosen. They will have a minimum of 3 events and a maximum of 5.
Week 15 Have a track meet where the students will compete against one another.

Tennis:
Week 16-Day 1 Learn rules, regulations and how to play tennis.
Day 2 Start practice.
Day 3 Continue practice.
Day 4 Begin tournament.
Day 5 Finish tournament.

Rules and Regulations:



1. Arrive to class on time.

2. Students are required to dress out everyday.

3.  Jewelry should remain in the lockeroom.

4. Food and drinks are not permissable(including gum).

5. Students may not leave class without the teachers permission.

6. Students shouldn't talk while the teacher is giving instruction.

7. There will be no tolerance for rough housing.

8. There will be no tolerance for foul language.

9. All students are required to participate unless they have doctors note or have spoken with the teacher.

10. Students must practice good hygiene.

11. Turn off and leave all electronic devices in the locker room.

12. Every student will be assigned a locker and they must provide a lock for that locker. If you have questions or need help let the teacher know.

Grading Policy:

0-1 absences =100 pts.
2-3 absences =90 pts.
3-4 absences =80 pts.
4-5 absences =70 pts.
6 absences will result in failure of the class.

Participation:
100 pts. everyday they actively participate.
